Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Doc Scanner is a document scanning app for Android and iOS. For any question about this policy, write to mohammedherak37@gmail.com.
2. Your documents stay on your phone
The photos you take or import, the documents and PDFs you create, the recognized text (OCR), your folders, your saved signature and your settings are stored only in the app's private storage on your device.
- All processing (page detection, straightening, filters, text recognition in French, English and Arabic, PDF creation) happens on the device, offline.
- We have no servers and never receive your documents.
- A document only leaves your device when you share it or save it elsewhere yourself (for example with the Share menu), to the app or service you choose.
- PDFs can be protected with a password (AES-256); that password is never stored.
Backups
On Android, your documents are never included in cloud backups; they can be copied during a direct transfer to a new phone. On iOS, they are excluded from backups unless you turn on "Include in device backups" in the app's settings.
3. Permissions
- Camera: only to scan your documents. Images stay on the device.
- Biometrics / screen lock (optional, for the app lock): the check is done by the system; the app never receives your fingerprints or face data.
- Internet (Android): only to show ads and the consent form. Your documents are never sent.
4. Ads (Android app)
The Android app is free and funded by ads served by Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). An ad may appear in the library and, at most a few times a day, after you save a document. The iOS app shows no ads.
To show, measure and, with your consent, personalize ads, Google may collect and process:
- the device's advertising ID and other device or app identifiers;
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
- device information (model, system version, language);
- your interactions with ads (views, clicks);
- diagnostic and performance data.
This data is processed by Google as an independent controller, under its own rules: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. It never contains your documents or their content.
Your consent
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, a Google consent form appears on first launch, before any ad. You can accept, refuse or choose your options; if you refuse, only non-personalized ads may be shown. You can change your mind at any time in Settings › Privacy › Ad privacy options.
Everywhere, you can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings (Settings › Privacy › Ads, or Google › Ads depending on the device).
Data kept on the device
To limit how often ads appear, the app keeps on your device the install date, the time of the last full-screen ad and how many were shown that day. This information is not sent to anyone.
5. Text recognition
On Android, Latin-script text is recognized by Google ML Kit and Arabic text by Tesseract, both directly on the device. ML Kit may send Google technical usage and performance statistics; neither the images nor the recognized text are sent. On iOS, recognition uses Apple's Vision, on the device.
6. Children
Doc Scanner is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any data about them.
7. Retention and deletion
Your documents stay on your device until you delete them in the app. Uninstalling the app erases all its documents and settings. Ad data is kept by Google under its own rules.
8. Your rights
Since we receive no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. For ad data, you can change your consent in the app, manage your advertising ID in Android's settings, and exercise your rights with Google. You have the rights granted by the law that protects you (for example the GDPR or, in Morocco, Law 09-08) and can write to us with any question.

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its update date.
